🔶 What is Pinda Swedana?
Pinda Swedana is a specialized form of Ayurvedic sudation (sweating) therapy, where medicated boluses are used to induce sweating and relieve stiffness, inflammation, and pain. It is a part of Panchakarma and is especially effective in treating chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
There are two main types:

🌿1. Patra Pinda Sweda (Leaf Bolus Therapy)
Patra Pinda Sweda, also known as Elakizhi, is a type of Pinda Swedana where fresh herbal leaves are used.
🔸 Key Ingredients:

Anti-inflammatory herbs like Nirgundi, Eranda, Dhatura, Arka, etc.

Medicated oils (usually Mahanarayan Taila, Kottamchukkadi Taila)

Heated and tied into a bolus (potli)

The bolus is dipped in warm medicated oil and applied with gentle massage over the affected joints/muscles.

Shashtika rice (60-day harvested red rice)

Cow’s milk

Cooked rice is tied into boluses.

Applied warm over the body with mild pressure and massage.

Repeated dipping in warm milk-decoction mix ensures consistent heat.
